It's been one lovely week having my husband home, let me tell you! He drove home straight after work last Friday night (the 31st) and I waited up until 2am to give him a proper welcome. (*wink*) Gabe made him a Welcome Home Dad sign and in the morning Katherine didn't know what to do with herself when she realized that her daddy was asleep in the bed. Both kids were clingy at first but with him here now for a week they've started to realize that this time he's not going anywhere.
Our living situation is still less than ideal; we're both coming up on our 30th birthdays this Spring and are living in his parent's basement for the foreseeable future. We might finally be able to get our stuff out of storage after we get our tax return, but there's nowhere here to really put it. My sister the banker tells me that in a couple of months we *might* be able to save up for a downpayment on a house here, but actually qualifying for a mortgage? That's dependent on a lot of factors outside of our control. I'm excited about just the possibility of affording our own home but Ryan is less than thrilled and is choosing to focus on the negatives. He'd much rather live anywhere else than here while I'm content where we are (if we can get a house that is) but moving again is a logistical nightmare with our stuff still in BC. In order to achieve the savings for the downpayment, regardless of whatever else the Universe throws in our way, I'm cutting myself off from eating out while at work and not buying the kids anything else from the store. In order to do this I'm leaving my debit card at home and switching to a cash system only. I've wanted a HOME for a long time and now that it might actually be within our grasp in 6 months? I'm going for it.
Keep your fingers crossed for us that we can find better jobs with better pay and hours so we can make our dreams come true.
