Satisfying Seven

March 21, 2013

I can't believe Katherine is seven months old, can you? The dark days of all night feedings are far behind us, the five o'clock fussing, the sheer exhaustion of the newborn and not-quite-newborn times (combined with recovering from surgery), it's all behind. That shine that used to colour my perception of everything, the constant sense of grace, has faded. It only hits me lately in the very quiet moments. Now she's figuring out sitting up, eating real food, rolling around and being separated from me for more than 30 seconds at a time. She's still not sleeping through the night, but last night I'm going to call a win as I slept a solid five hours in a row for the first time since she's been born. It's not enough, not with running after Gabe and trying to find time to train for the Victoria Goddess Run, but it'll have to do.  My big girl is probably 25lbs and is 2' 2" long, which puts her in the 90th-something percentile for kids her age, just like Gabe was. What can I say, we make big babies!  She's thriving and that's what matters.
