Please don't hate me when I say this, but I love Mondays. Monday mornings I sometimes get to sleep in as Leslie will get Gabe out to the door to school. After I get up, it's an hour or two of Star Trek reruns (NG and Voyager) with Katherine, breakfast deliciousness, and getting ready for work. I get to do everything at my own pace, on my own schedule, as there's rarely anyone home but me and Kat. It's quiet and peaceful most of the time, even with Kat bringing me endless cups of pretend tea or the dogs wanting in and out a million times. Weekends are harder because I have to dance around Gabe, who constantly wants to play and is constantly chattering, and Leslie and Chris, who may or may not be home, or going out, or coming in, depending on what they're doing. Sometimes (very often) I work one or both days, so getting ready becomes more complicated.
When Monday comes I know exactly what to expect, and so goes for the rest of the week. Get up, get Gabe out the door, putter around for a little while and relax while waking up and taking care of Kat, then go to work. After work I very often don't get home until 9:30 or later so by the time I get here I've missed dinner, bathtime and bedtime. With a thousand thanks to my inlaws is this possible, and it's nice and quiet by that time. These last two weeks have been the Christmas break bustle; Gabe's been off school, Ryan was here for a few days, Gabe ended up with strep throat at New Year's, so I'm more ready than usual for things to get back to routine.
Do you have a weekday routine? A weekend routine? Love it or hate it?
