Well, it's that time of year again; New Year's Resolutions time! Some years I make them, others I don't, and some years I make resolutions like this one posted by a friend on her Facebook wall: I resolve to drink, swear, eat, and tell the world to screw it's self more this year. This is one I can't break no matter how I try."
This year's resolution is a serious one though, and one you (yes you, dear reader) will benefit from-I will write. I will write well and I will write often. How much more could I possibly write? You'd be surprised. Right now I'm posting at FaNA roughly 2-4 times a week. I'd like to make that a guaranteed three, on a Mon-Wed-Fri schedule. At Fierce Fatties I write once a month but am thinking of making that twice monthly. At Antichoice is Anti-Awesome, I'm planning to post there twice a month as well. I'm going to start a weekly post at my Circle's webpage too. Starting in 2013 I'll also be the editor for Mothers of Change and doing a bit of posting there, but mostly organizing things and posting for others. Finally, and most importantly, I'm going to be working on my book.
This is the last time in my life, until retirement anyway, that I'm going to have time off from a job in order to write (barring illness or injury). A few weeks ago the old dream to see my name on the cover of a book jumped up and bit me something hard, and if not now, when? When am I going to stop dreaming and start doing? I've already started chasing down sources (my book is going to be non-fiction/helpful and focusing on the childhood aspects of the obesity 'epidemic') and created an outline for the chapters. Having a plan helps me see how things will work out and keep me motivated. Once I've got everything I want collected I'll sit down and write. And I'm not going to stop until it's finished.
The question of when I'll find time to write is a difficult one to answer, seeing as how Katherine isn't exactly great at napping, and Gabe is a busy boy, and we game once a week, and and and. Still! Nothing is going to stop me from writing at least a little bit every day. Once it becomes a habit it'll be an awfully hard one to break.
Happy New Year to one and all!
