Thrift Stores FTW!

September 27, 2011

They really are. Last week I picked up two pairs of black dress pants from the V V Boutique (aka Value Village) for less than $10.00 and I must say that I love them. I'm actually a big fan of VV for a lot of things; they have a good selection of plus sized clothes in every style imaginable, plenty of change rooms, and stuff other than clothes, like SNES games! I found Donkey Kong Country in perfect condition for $2.99 a few years ago. I've bought skirts, shirts, shorts, pants, household supplies and more at the VV Boutique, and never run into a snobby, "We don't carry that in your size." customer service clerk.

I love thrift store shopping (yes, I consider the Boutique to be a thrift store, even if it is a large chain) and am lucky to have 2 right near the house. The cost is low and with the two smaller stores near the house, I'm supporting local charities by purchasing shoes or clothes for work. It's also pretty eco-friendly; I mean, it's Reduce, Reuse, Recycle for a reason. Reduce what you buy, Reuse what you do have until you can't anymore, and Recycle what you can. Thrift stores give us the oppertunity to find new additions for the wardrobe or kitchen at a very good price while not producing more STUFF to buy. What's been your favorite/best thrift store find?
