Poetry Corner: Full Belly

October 1, 2013

Long roads and great distances, hundreds of days

We return to the beginning to start again, choosing a new direction

When is a choice not a choice? Is free will an illusion?

Beyond the lakes where the land gently rolls, remembering what it was

before pavement, stone, horses and carriages, ploughs and hoes

Before dams and drainage, busy hands with seeds and hammers,

a Marsh

Empty evenings, long nights, quiet days filled with endless activity

until we meet again; finding the way, the means, the route, the time

so much time-Weeks and months as the seasons revolve towards darkness

Empty bed-full belly
